It is with great sadness that we deliver this message to the keðja community:
Dragan Klaic, theatre scholar and cultural analyst, died on August 25th 2011 at the age of sixty-one. Dragan was a strong and influential advocate of the power of culture and arts, and he leaves a valuable legacy behind. Further reading of his background and achievements is to be found on www.IETM.org
Dragan was the chairman of the so called Task Force of keðja – dance encounters 2008 – 2010। The Task Force was a small, intimate “third eye” group established to advise the organizers and assess the results of the keðja project. It was a great fortune for keðja that Dragan agreed to take on this role. Not only did he influence the project and the content of keðja encounters, but he also inspired and enlightened the whole keðja community through his lectures and interventions. His perceptiveness, generosity towards younger generations, curiosity about their views – always amazed us. Once asked why he was willing to spend so much of his time in discourse with students and professionals alike, he answered: “I was lucky to get a good education and opportunities to grow and cultivate my intellect and analytic thinking. I see it as my obligation to give back.”
